In that note, I feel compelled to share my thoughts with whoever gets to read them. =)
Two years ago something happened to me that changed my life entirely. I gave myself the chance to really know myself through meditation where I found, among many other things, clarity of mind and peace.
With this clear mind, free from the agitation that I'd gotten by going through life without a real sense to live, it was crystal clear for me! "We are here to be happy!".
The quest for happiness is a universal mechanism embedded in every human being as a way to transcend. Meaning we are actually here to transcend, but transcendence is directly related to happiness.
The highest expression of happiness is obtained when we truly love, and true love is found in true giving.
A clear example is found in the difference between “having sex” and “making love”. Sex is an act which purpose (aside of the reproductive one) is mostly to obtain pleasure for ourselves, “I wanna have an orgasm” while “making love” is an act where we give ourselves out to the other person “I love HER, I want HER to be happy”
Paradoxically in the second one we are not thinking or desiring our own happiness yet we experience happiness in a higher sense and intensity.
When we truthfully give ourselves out we aren't thinking of our own good or later benefit etc, rather we are thinking on the good of other(s), that is then, going beyond ourselfs, beyond our ego.
In conclusion, the more we truthfully give ourselves out, the more we'll truthfully be loving, the happier we'll be, the more we'll be going beyond ourselves and our egos and the more we'll be transcending.

Deep and well thought out!
Happiness is what we all seek and so defining happiness seems to be the more difficult task.
Happiness comes in many flavors and for each, at the surface anyway, 'happiness' is a word that seems obscure and often fleeting.
As you went deeper into what happiness has become for you I think you came closer to the truth that evades many.
The question of what is happiness becomes simplified when we look at how we can give to others and bring them happiness. Of course as is the nature of any 'truth' it then, becomes a question of what is going to make the other person happy!? That can be complicated.
Then we find ourselves in a trap of trying to make others happy to in-turn make ourselves happy. Hmmmmm. Speak of paradox.
*If a plane is in trouble and the oxygen masks fall down in front of you and you notice the passenger next to you having problems . . . What do you do??
The answer = put on your mask first! Then help your neighbor.
It's not selfish . . . it's the wise thing to do.
You can't help anyone survive until you are safe. And it's hard to make someone else happy if you're not.
We're here to be happy is a truth. Harder to answer is 'how', or perhaps it's more important to understand that we're to be sad sometimes also. We're here to live!
Seeking truths and there are as many as the stars in the sky is a noble pursuit and not everyone feels compelled to do so. Most just exist and go with the flow. Many sheep and few sheperds. Then there are those that are seekers and as they go through the process of trying to understand the why and how of the universe they become lost and found again and again, and over time enlightened . . . or they give up entirely and become more sad then sheep.(my opinion)
I am just a seeker . . . learning as I live this adventure we call life . . . . a seeker, I believe progresses to be a teacher and this is out of a desire to share the 'happiness'. Some truths that ring true to me follow.
***************
They say the truth will set you free . . I seek the truth and have found that if you don't, sooner or later the truth seeks you.
i found a truth in the reflections of a lake that ripples peacefully deep with-in my soul,
i am not as i was when a boy, nor as i was as a young man, and yet i am a child.
i am not lonely nor alone, ever . . . the spirit of the eternal is with me, . . . i feel the touch and am safe in the hand of creation always . . .
walk calmly, breath deeply, feel peace, soft like petals, as the wings of an angel, like sailing clouds, as a mother's kiss upon a baby's cheek.
There is a beginning, a journey and a destination for everything in its own time, in it's own way.
Every part must be empty to be filled, must be filled to be empty. Don't hold on to the past or you'll lose your future.
To be ready is to wait, to be anxious is folly, to be patient wise, to be wise to learn to wait . . .and whatch.
Love is Complete! It does not have 2 parts. Love is whole by it's very nature.
Love cannot be taken, only given freely.
Love cannot be destroyed yet the vessel that is home to love can find itself lost to love . . . to full of fear, or anger or pity or pride to recieve love.
Love is understood by the giver only after it is given. Love is understood by the reciever only after it is accepted.
Love is all and always and flows like a river finding a wayaround, over, under, through any obstacle. We are merely a conduit for love to flow through.
There is no path to love, Love is the Path!
One must be quiet to hear love's song, . . . One must be still to feel love's touch, . . . one must close ones eyes to the world to see love's light
I believe that my strength to survive the most difficult times comes from love . . . love in action is charity . . . giving without thought of return and without conditions. It's a lofty pursuit yet it gives meaning to 'why' and answers 'how' when you take a moment to listen.
lov and peace,
Scott
